Annual Charity Event & Auction 2021 is a success!
Prairie Home Hospice & Community Care’s Annual Charity Event & Auction was held on Friday, August 6th, 2021!. Thanks to our Event Sponsor, Lockwood Motors, we were able to hold this event once again at the spacious Red Baron Arena & Expo.
The theme for this years Charity Event and Auction was “Pay it Forward”. Auction Items were gathered up with the intention of “giving” back to the community; acquiring items that would help make life easier while benefiting the businesses and individuals throughout our community. We were also very grateful to have received a grant that allowed us to provide all of the Prairie Home Hospice & Community Care staff members, plus a guest, with a free ticket to this event. We were thrilled to see so many staff members attend and we were grateful to be able to pay tribute to all of their hard work throughout the turbulence that has been the last year! Kindly, the head table was also donated to staff members. The staff members who were given a seat at the head table were drawn at random and were able to enjoy some special perks.
The night kicked off at 5pm with socializing, drinks, and silent auction bidding. Thanks to SO many amazing donors, and the hard work of our acquisition committee, we rounded up hundreds of Silent Auction Items, and were able to put together nearly 20 incredible Silent Auction Packages.
Supper, provided by the Hitching Post, began around 7pm. Supper was an incredible meal of BBQ Pork Ribs, Raspberry Grilled Chicken on Wild Rice, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, a Fresh Dinner Roll, and Bread Pudding with a Rum Sauce. Our tables enjoyed socializing and live music provided by the Broken Oak throughout supper!
At the completion of supper guests were given a few announcements. This year’s announcements included the Annual Hospice Family Story (The Archbold Family), and introduction of the new upcoming CEO (Sarah Kirchner) for Prairie Home Hospice & Community Care. During this time, we also drew 10 lucky winners for our Raffle Drawing! Winners of Raffle items were given the opportunity to choose, at random, a household item that contained multiple different random gift cards and gift certificates. The total sum of certificates in these items had a wide range but, included hundreds of dollars’ worth in value.
Silent Auction bidding closed at 8pm, following completion of the raffle drawings and announcements to allow for our Live Auction to begin. This year we had 8 amazing Live Auction Packages:
1. Sportsman’s Paradise Package 2. Gimme that Golf Getaway 3. Weekend on the Shores of Pelican Lake 4. Head North to the Louwagie Cabin 5. Choice Resort Destination Vacation
6. Titan Equipment 7. Big Backyard BBQ 8. Ring a Bell for a Cause: Annual Hospice Bell
All of the Live Auction Packages were a hit as usual! We can’t wait to help the winners coordinate their packages throughout the next several months!
Following suit of previous years, we also allowed for attendees to participate in donating to our Special Ask. The Special Ask is something unique to current times, a need that our facilities have right now that may be unusual or unexpected. This year’s Special Ask was to support the purchase, installation and replacement of the heating and cooling system at our original Hospice Home, the Lockwood House. With the gracious support of our attendees, and donors who have contributed since the event, we have made incredible financial headway towards this project. The special ask rounded up the events of the evening.
We are excited to announce next year’s Annual Charity Event & Auction Date! Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 23rd, 2022! This is right around the corner, and we already can’t wait!
