MARSHALL, MN

MAY SHE REST IN PEACE

Lillian Louise Dale, age 86, of formerly of Lynd and currently of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Prairie Home Fieldcrest Hospice in Cottonwood, Minnesota.

Lillian Louise Serreyn was born on April 17, 1938, in Tyler, Minnesota. She was the youngest of 13 children born to Frans and Hanna (Koench) Serreyn. Lillian grew up in Arco and Lynd, Minnesota. She graduated from Lynd High School with the class of 1956.

In 1957, Lillian was united in marriage to James Dale and the couple made their home Marshall before moving onto their farm in the early 1960s. Jim and Lillian had one son and shared over 55 years of marriage together prior to Jim’s death in 2013. Shortly thereafter, Lillian moved off the farm and into Marshall. When she needed more assistance with her care, Lillian moved into Prairie Home Fieldcrest in Cottonwood just last year.

Lillian worked for 25 years as a telephone operator and then began her own business, Lazy J Ceramics, where she would craft and sell her ceramic creations and flowers at local markets. In retirement, Lillian also volunteered at the Thrift Store. She was a faithful member of Living Word Lutheran Church in Marshall, always active in the funeral committee, kitchen committee, and quilting groups. She was involved in several women’s groups where she had a positive voice and was always looking to have fun. Her other enjoyments included gardening, wintering in Misson (Texas), time spent at the cabin on Diamond Lake, and catching up with friends.

Lillian died peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025, in Cottonwood, Minnesota. She reached the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 7 days. Blessed be her memory.

She is survived by her son, Mike (and Betty) Dale of Lynd; granddaughters, Jessica Amundson (and Jeff Van Dyke), Jenna Dale (and Cameron Ellingson); 5 great-grandchildren, Carter, Christopher, Camden, Payten, Tegen; brother, Stanley Serreyn of Marshall; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Dale; and 11 siblings, George, Henry, Oscar, Ellen, Elmer, Emil, Norman, Albert, Leo, Irene, and LeRoy.
