MAY SHE REST IN PEACE

Alice Marguerite Leeman was born on March 23, 1934, in Woumen, Belgium, to Leon and Martha (Louwagie) Leeman. She grew up in Belgium where she was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her youth. After her schooling Alice met and married Oscar G. Louwagie on February 13, 1960, in Belgium. In March 1960, she immigrated to the United States and the couple lived on a farm near Green Valley, Minnesota, before moving to a farm near Cottonwood in 1968 where they raised their family. Alice was a devoted homemaker and housewife as she helped on the family farm – especially caring for the large garden that fed her 10 children. After moving to Marshall in 2000, Alice created beautiful flower gardens surrounding her house.

Alice was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the CCW during her many years as a member of St. Clotilde Catholic Church. She was an excellent seamstress, creating clothes and sewing many quilts for her family. Alice and Oscar enjoyed trips to visit relatives in Belgium, France, and Canada – taking all of their children to meet the relatives in Belgium. Her other enjoyments in life included playing cards, baking Belgian cookies, hosting holidays and other family gatherings.

Alice died on Saturday, November 15, 2025, in Marshall, Minnesota. She reached the age of 91 years, 7 months, and 22 days.
