Lockwood House

The Lockwood House is a five-bedroom residence designed to provide compassionate care for patients who can no longer be supported at home or who require care beyond what their loved ones can offer. Managed by the Prairie Home Hospice team, the home offers 24/7 care and support, ensuring patients can spend their final days in a comfortable, nurturing environment.

The house features a welcoming living room, kitchen, dining area, and five private bedrooms. Each room is thoughtfully equipped with a hospital bed, recliner, closet, dresser, half bathroom, and ample space for medical equipment. Large windows provide natural light, fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere. A nurse’s station supports seamless record-keeping and medication management, while additional amenities include laundry facilities, a supply area, and a specialized shower and bathing room.

At the Lockwood House, patients and their families retain control over treatment decisions and daily activities as much as possible. Family members are encouraged to visit and participate in their loved one’s care, creating an environment that feels like home. Our mission is to provide a comforting, dignified space that patients can truly call their own.

McLaughlin House

In 2016, Prairie Home Hospice recognized the need for another residential hospice house to accommodate our often-full waiting list at our Lockwood House.  After exploring various options, we purchased and renovated a second neighborhood home in Marshall, which opened in 2018.

The McLauglin House offers the same high standard of care as the Lockwood House, with a team of at least two clinical staff members providing direct care to up to four residents around the clock. This ensures each patient receives the dedicated attention and support they need. Additional staff and volunteers enhance the care environment by offering various services in a warm, home-like setting.

The McMillian House also features a Family Suite, allowing loved ones to stay close to their family member during the day, overnight, on weekends, or for extended periods. Each patient room is thoughtfully furnished with a hospital bed, recliner, closet, dresser, half bathroom, and space for essential medical equipment, creating a comfortable and supportive space for end-of-life care.

NOTE: There is a daily room and board fee for patients staying at our hospice houses. However, our mission remains steadfast: no one will be denied admission due to financial limitations.  Ongoing community support and donations are essential to our ability to provide these vital services. The generosity of our donors ensures that every patient receives the care they need and the dignity they deserve.
