Joyce Anna Hass was born on September 1, 1946, in Marshall, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ralph and Abbie (Orren) Hass. Joyce grew up on the family farm near Lynd, Minnesota. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her youth at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Island Lake Township. She graduated from Lynd High School with the class of 1964 and then moved to the Twin Cities where she met Mr. Dean Vogt.
Joyce and Dean were united in marriage on May 20, 1967, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in the Twin Cities until October of 1999 when they returned to Marshall, Minnesota. Joyce worked as a mother and homemaker for a time and served as cook for a couple elementary schools before working at Ben Franklin and Hanson Drug. After moving back to Marshall, Joyce found work at Patzer’s Hardware and worked there for over 25 years until the store’s closure.
Joyce was a long-time member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall where she assisted with many events, namely funeral luncheons. Her enjoyments in life included playing Bingo, card games, watching game shows in westerns on TV, catching a good homework movie, and tending to her gardens.
Joyce died peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in Cottonwood, Minnesota. She reached the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 2 days. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her son, Curtis Vogt of Tyler; granddaughter, Catherine Vogt of Brookings; sister, Virginia Rieck of Phoenix, AZ: nieces and nephews, Renee (and Todd) Augusta of Pipestone, Ryan (and Mary) Rieck of Phoenix, AZ, Jeff (and Angie) Orren of Milroy, Jim (and Ann) Orren of Minneota; other relatives and many friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Abbie Hass; parents-in-law, Lester and Lela Vogt; husband, Dean Vogt; son, David Vogt; brother, Ralph (and Judy) Orren; and a brother-in-law, Donnie Rieck.
