In Loving Memory of

Helen Mae Wambeke

OCTOBER 13, 1934 — NOVEMBER 29, 2025

MARSHALL, MN

MAY SHE REST IN PEACE

Helen Mae (Becker) Wambeke was born October 13, 1934, to Henry and Anna (Mayerhofer) Becker on a farm near St. Michael, Minnesota. She received the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation at St. Michael Church in St. Michael, MN. She attended catholic schools throughout her years of learning, including college. She received the Sacrament of Marriage with Daniel Wambeke at St. Michael Church, St. Michael, MN on June 14, 1975. Helen and Dan were blessed with one child lost to miscarriage, one living child, Danny, and with his wife Joy, four grandchildren: Ana, Toby, Claire and Grace – the pride and joy of her life.

Helen Mae spent her life teaching children all subjects in the classroom, a place she felt was heaven on earth. She especially enjoyed bringing out the beauty of children’s voices in concerts, Christmas operettas, spring musicals, and most of all in the children’s church choir as well as singing in the congregation. Helen’s love of children was expressed not only in the classroom, but also in her teaching piano and organ lessons out of her home. She was proud of their accomplishments – winning honors at the piano and becoming organists in their own parish churches. Helen was organist in her home parish wherever she lived. Helen also prepared the First Communion class for many years. She considered this a privilege.

Helen was a charter member of Birthright of Marshall since it opened its doors in 1978. For as long as she could, Helen was with Birthright, helping girls who were in need. It brought her much happiness to befriend a mother, help her give life to her baby, and to accompany her through those difficult early years. While Helen’s gifts were many, she preferred not to receive recognition. Her favorite saying was, “All for the greater Honor and Glory of God.”

On November 29, 2025, at 91 years old, Helen passed away. Memorials preferred as donations to Choices Pregnancy Center in Marshall, MN. Before she died, Helen also requested that memorial masses be given for her.

She is survived by her loving husband Dan, her treasured son Dan Jr., Joy, his loving wife, and four grandchildren, Anastasia, Tobias, Claire, and Grace, and sister Dorothy Daleiden of St. Michael, MN. She was preceded in death by her infant child, her loving parents: Henry and Anna Becker, brothers Victor, Wilfred, Leander, Roman, Clem, and Harold Becker, her sister Sister Anne Becker, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

While she would like for you to remember her, she would like you to remember her mostly in your prayers. May she rest in peace.
