In Loving Memory of
Kathryn Ann St. Pierre
FEBRUARY 8, 1932 — AUGUST 11, 2025
COTTONWOOD, MN
MAY SHE REST IN PEACE
Kathryn Ann Byrne was born on February 8, 1932, on her parents’ farm north of Dovray, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Peter and Jennie (Carter) Byrne. Kathryn “Kate” graduated in 1950 from the Westbrook High School and on January 11, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert St. Pierre at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie. Together they farmed for seven years southeast of Currie.
In 1958 the couple moved into town and purchased the Currie pool hall which they operated as “Bob’s Rec & Kate’s Kitchen” until 1981. The business was known for Kate’s home cooked meals – one of the best burgers around – and her desserts, especially homemade pie and Rice Krispies bars. After 34 years of marriage, Robert passed away unexpectedly at their home on December 15, 1985. Kate remained living there until 2020 when she moved into Prairie Home Fieldcrest, an assisted living facility in Cottonwood, Minnesota. This brought her near to her daughter, Teresa.
Her enjoyments in life included playing pinochle and other cards games, gardening, fishing, adding to her owl collection, and various crafts – especially quilting and crocheting.
Kate passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 11, 2025, in Cottonwood, Minnesota. She reached the age of 93 years, 6 months, and 3 days. Blessed and eternal be her memory. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Fieldcrest in Cottonwood for the care and attention shown to Kate over the past few years.
She is survived by her 4 children, Marjorie (and Bradley) Schreier of Naples, FL, Teresa (and Steven) Otto of Marshall, Jeannie St. Pierre (and James Kahmann) of Kansas City, MO, Leslie St. Pierre of Tracy; 6 grandchildren, Ryan (and Sara) Schreier, Kyle (and Katie) Schreier, Travis (and Jenny) McGary, Leighton (and Whitnee) Otto, Kelly (and Joseph) Stamps, Nicholas Kahmann; 13 great-grandchildren, Annabell Schreier, Lillian Schreier, Connor Schreier, James Schreier, Maria Schreier, Cara McGary, Caitlin McGary, Declyn McGary, Aspyn Otto, Brooks Otto, Ava Stamps, Joseph J. Stamps, Jake Stamps; 2 sisters, Bonnie (Mrs. Clair Ackerman) of Slayton and Hope (Mrs. Fred “Sonny” Beierman) of Moses Lake, WA; special friend, Don Schmitz of Slayton; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
