North Star Mutual Insurance Company of Cottonwood, MN recently donated $2,500.00 to Prairie Home at Fieldcrest. The donation will support fundraising efforts to help with the purchase of new equipment at Fieldcrest, including two patient lifts to help residents who need assistance with mobility and exercise equipment to assist residents in maintaining strength and mobility.

While management transition of the facility began in January, Prairie Home at Fieldcrest officially began operating under Prairie Home’s license on March 1st. Since then, a number of changes have taken place. “The biggest change has been in the level of staffing that we now provide at Fieldcrest,” according to Prairie Home CEO, Pat Mellenthin. “In order to better serve all of our residents, we have more than doubled the staff at Fieldcrest. Our goal from the start was to make sure that Fieldcrest would reflect the same high standards of quality that have been the hallmark of Prairie Home Hospice since 1984. We’ve always believed that providing quality services requires quality staffing. That means a focus on providing good training, a supportive work environment…and having enough staff on hand to do the job well. We’re very proud of the team we’ve built at Fieldcrest and we know they’re prepared to provide residents the kind of care and support they expect from Prairie Home…and deserve.”

North Star Mutual has been a strong partner in the work of Prairie Home Hospice & Community Care for the past few years, and we are incredibly grateful for their support once again,” said Tara Plante, Prairie Home Marketing & Development Director. “We’re proud to say that every dollar of their donation stays right here in the community!”

“We were so excited to expand our organization’s quality promise at Fieldcrest. Any donation that we receive towards Prairie Home at Fieldcrest will make a lasting difference in the Cottonwood Community and to the Fieldcrest residents and families for years to come,” said Plante.” “Prairie Home at Fieldcrest will continue to meet a growing need in the community for many years to come.”

Fieldcrest Assisted Living has undergone many modifications in the past three months, and more are planned. “We had hoped to launch a community fundraiser in conjunction with a new grand re-opening of the facility but have had to delay those plans due to COVID-19”, said Plante. “Most of the resident rooms, laundry, bathroom, and common areas have received a facelift. We’ve updated the cable, internet, and phone systems. We’ve replaced a few appliances. We’ve added exercise equipment and two lifts. We are hoping to raise a $20,000.00 to help cover the cost of these improvement,” says Plante. “The support that we have received so far, including the generous donation from North Star Insurance, has been incredible. It reflects a sense of community commitment and ownership that we hope will always be a part of Fieldcrest going forward. We welcome support at all levels, gifts large or small, and invite everyone to participate in supporting Fieldcrest at whatever level they can. Every gift matters.” For more information about Prairie Home at Fieldcrest, Giving Opportunities, or Volunteer Opportunities at the facility, please contact Tara Plante at Prairie Home Hospice at (507)337-0080.
